Fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks

Is it time for you to get away?

Covering 54,000 acres and over 1,150 miles of shoreline, the Lake of the Ozarks is home to some of the best fishing in the country. The biggest question for the average fishmerman is, "When and where is the best time to catch largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, white bass, etc?"

With the help of BassingBob.com we want to provide you with a weekly fishing report to give you some pointers on when, where and how to fish the many coves, docks and shorelines at Lake of the Ozarks. Please check out Bassing Bob's daily/weekly/monthly fishing reports as well as videos and more.

The Lake is loaded with a variety of fish species: largemouth bass, spotted bass, black and white crappie, blue catfish, channel catfish, flathead catfish, white bass, hybrid stripers, paddlefish, walleye and bluegill.

The Lake's state parks also attract anglers year-round. Lake of the Ozarks State Park in Osage Beach offers boat ramps, dock-fishing and crappie beds. Ha Ha Tonka State Park near Camdenton has two boat docks and allows fishing from marked access points. The Gravois Mills MDC Access has a free boat ramp and it is only 15 minutes to the Hilty Inn Bed and Breakfast in Versailles.

Numerous bait shops, boat rentals, fishing outfitters and full-service marinas also serve the Lake area.

If you want to just cut to the chase, call on one of the Lake's independent fishing guides. These pros will take you directly to the "hot spots" and provide tackle and bait.

In the Wild Rose front parlor, a fireplace and comfortable couches welcomes guests. An old piano and a wall of books entice one to possible evening entertainments.
The wallpaper is soft sage with rosebuds on vines that never fade or fall. Below, the rug mirrors those vines, except the buds have blossomed into full blooms. Such design choices prove Inn Keeper Doris Hilty’s eye for detailed elements that speak to each other. The result is beautiful.
A beautiful open staircase, with a walnut newel post, ascends to beautifully appointed bedrooms, each with a private bath, one with a lovely claw-foot bathtub-shower.
Queen Ann-leg dressers and comfortable antique beds beckon guests to a restful night’s sleep. Thoughtful touches pamper guests with chocolates on your pillow, a soft-fluffy bath robe to snuggle in and hand sewn postage stamp quilts.
A sitting room can make your room a suite and private porches are also available on request.
Everywhere there are freshly cut flowers. Their scent sweetens the air; their blooms bring gardens to life indoors. These come from Doris Hilty’s sister’s garden near Versailles or from the Inn’s own gardens. They are but one more example of the many gifts a great hostess provides to her guests.
